I came to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky from the mountains of East Tennessee. I grew up in a place many only visit for a few days then leave, Gatlinburg, TN.
My passion for journalism came from my time spent at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (don't hold it against me!) where I majored in Journalism and Electronic Media with a focus in Broadcast News. I was always fascinated by the inner workings of television news and, through classes and internships, discovered a real love for the business.
While in school I was an anchor and reporter for our student-run news program UT Today, with fellow WYMT reporter/anchor Katie Roach. I also spent a few months interning at one of the local stations in Knoxville where I got to experience what the daily life of a reporter is like.
I moved to Eastern Kentucky January 1, 2012, to begin my new adventure as the Big Sandy Bureau Chief here at WYMT right in line with a new year. It is a new adventure every day, but one I love and feel lucky to have.
People know me best for my addiction to coffee and my love for animals. I am a proud dog mom to my mixed-breed rescue, Chopstick.
I am honored to now be a part of Eastern Kentucky and look forward to continuing to share your stories!
