Before moving to Hazard, I lived in Huntington, West Virginia my entire life. I graduated from Marshall University. That’s right, “We Are… Marshall!” I worked at the school radio station, WMUL-FM along with the school television station. I also worked at WYMT’s sister station, WSAZ in Huntington. What can I say? I just love telling other people’s stories.
I’ve always heard about WYMT from my television news professor, Dr. Chris Swindell and my co-workers at WSAZ, Susan Nicholas, Doug Korstanje and Brenda Bryan who all worked at WYMT previously. They were all very excited when I told them I would be reporting on their old stomping grounds.
Growing up in the tri-state I’ve been familiar with Eastern Kentucky for a while, but now I’m learning more than ever. I am very excited to be working at WYMT and can’t wait to start my career as a television news reporter here. It has always been my dream and now it’s become a reality.
I have two wonderful parents, a sister and an adorable baby nephew. I miss them terribly, but everyone I’ve met has been very welcoming and makes me feel right at home! Plus, whenever I start to feel home sick I just watch an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show and suddenly I feel better!
