I grew up in the heart of the coalfields, right across the mountain in Harlan County.
I first became interested in weather and news at an early age. I grew up watching WYMT. I quickly learned the importance of getting the latest news and weather to people in every corner of the region.
I graduated from Cumberland High School. My first stop on the road to freedom was Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College where I received an Associate Degree in Science. I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications at Morehead State University. I'm now attending Mississippi State University, taking classes in Broadcast Meteorology.
I wore a number of hats at Southeast. That’s where I got my first experience Broadcasting. I was hooked. Morehead State only strengthened my commitment. I was the lead weather forecaster for MSU’s Newscenter for three years. I also got a chance to anchor the newscast, but my passion will always be weather. Besides television, I also worked for Morehead State Public Radio doing news and sports.
I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go after graduation. When the call came from WYMT, I ended up back home in the mountains working for the station that first inspired me.
If you call the newsroom, I’ll probably be the person you talk to. I am the Assignment Editor and one of the producers. If I’m not in the newsroom, you’ll find me in the WYMT Sky Alert Weather Center, watching the skies with Jimmy as a part of the weather team.
On occasion, you might even see me out and about covering a story or two.
When I'm not at work, I like to hang out with friends and just overall be lazy. I’m a huge dog lover.
I’m proud to be a part of the WYMT Mountain News team and I look forward to serving the citizens of Eastern and Southern Kentucky, because we are your Mountain Television.
