I was born and raised in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Today I am living out my childhood dream. Weather affects each and every one of us. No matter what plans you make, weather affects it. My dream has always been to alert people to severe and breaking weather or to just give them the forecast during calm conditions.
I am from Shelbiana, a community south of Pikeville in Pike County. This is where my family and I have lived all my life. This is also where my fascination with the weather began. As a young child I remember being afraid of storms, but I was also intrigued at the power and beauty of the storms. I always knew what I wanted to do when I grew up. From the time I was 5 or 6, every time someone asked what I was going to be, my answer was always a weatherman. I have a weather station on top of my home recording the weather. It’s been there for years. With that information, if any friends or family ever wanted to know what the weather would be, they knew who to come to.
Knowing what I wanted to do, I enrolled with Mississippi State University in 2003. I earned my degree in Broadcast Meteorology in July 2006. In 2004, I became a member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.
I just recently began my broadcasting career. In March 2006 I fulfilled my lifelong dream when I landed a job with WYMT.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends and recently started to play a little golf. I also have a two year old golden retriever, named Spartacus, which keeps me busy while I am home. I have also developed an interest in photography. Of course, most pictures involve the sky, clouds, or something to do with weather.
You can catch me every weekend at six and eleven giving you the latest weather information. If you have any weather related pictures, severe weather reports, or just any questions or comments, feel free to e-mail me.
