Most people have a moment in their life where it becomes quite obvious to them what they want to do for the rest of their lives. I never had a moment like that. I have always had an idea of what I wanted to do, but never thought that I could make sports broadcasting into an actual career. That is why I graduated from Miami University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Political Science.
Unfortunately for me, when I get an idea of something that I want, I tend to relentlessly pursue it with unbridled passion. That has both served me well and gotten me into some trouble. But it explains why I ended up at WYMT after being turned down for four positions with the station before finally getting this one.
In my short time since making my trip to the Mountains, there have been many pleasant memories. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people while covering Mountain sports. The coaches, players and parents have been very appreciative of the work we do.
Getting a chance to work with the kids and the coaches is truly the best aspect of the job. Even in those moments when I am tired, I am encouraged to pick up my efforts just like so many of the kids on the court and field do each and every night.
I do not know where this job will eventually lead me, but the people and places that I will see and meet along the way will surely be worth the trip.
