There are very few people working at WYMT who can say that they have not spent at least part of their life in the Appalachian Mountains. However, I am one of those people. I hail from the big city of New York. I was born and raised in Brooklyn. Still, I am no stranger to the mountain terrain.
The White Mountains as they are best known in New England are located in New Hampshire. That’s where I spent the most important part of my life. That’s where I grew into what I feel is the man I am today. There are not many people who can say they left home at the ripe young age of thirteen to move to a place they have never been before. There I focused on my education as well as playing four sports; football, hockey, soccer and baseball. Baseball however is my passion. I played baseball for 14 years.
I then moved from the mountains of New Hampshire to another big city; Boston. I spent four years at Stonehill College, a small division two school located just south of the city. While I was there I spent four years in sports radio, doing play by play for all four major sports. I also served as Sports Director in my junior and senior years for WSHL.
After college I went to work in television production for ESPN. That’s where I met former WYMT Sports Director, Jay Crawford. I learned more at ESPN than I ever thought I could. But I knew that being on air as a sport reporter was really where my heart was. My parents told me to always do what made me happy and that is what led me to the Mountains of Eastern Kentucky.
In my time here, I have learned what WYMT brings to the community. I love the fact that we are so involved with the community and I enjoy going out and covering all the many talented athletes that Eastern Kentucky has to offer. There is nothing more that I can ask for here in the mountains. It is an enlightening experience. I just hope I can serve the people of Eastern Kentucky and continue the long standing tradition you have grown to expect from WYMT.
