Japanese Winter Plum Festival
The Norton Center for the Arts, Danville, KY
The Norton Center and Centre College will host a Japanese Winter Plum Festival to explore the rich culture of the “Land of the Rising Sun.” The evening event will include demonstrations in Japanese tea tasting, flower arranging, calligraphy, Sake tasting and karaoke. The highlight of the Festival is a sampling of traditional Japanese Sagi-ryu Kyogen Theatre. These short plays originated in the 14th Century and represent humorous fables involving lively townspeople. In partnership with Yamaguchi Prefectural University, the actors and many of the Festival demonstrators are coming to the Norton Center directly from Yamaguchi, Japan, exclusively for this very special event. The ticket price includes admission to the Festival and unlimited viewings of the Kyogen Theatre performances (rotated hourly).

Finally, our featured band, Chris Leigh & the Broken Hearts Band will be performing from 7-9:00 PM. Chris was named “Who to Watch in 2013” by the Country Music Association. You may remember last year, Chris premiered one of his music videos “If You Make It to Heaven” at our own St. Francis de Sales Church – which was where it was also filmed!
