Morehead Theatre Guild presents Agatha Christie "Witness for the Prosecution"
Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM
Rowan County Arts Center, 205 E. Main Stree, Morehead, Kentucky
Mr. Leonard Vole stands accused of murdering a wealthy older widow who has made him her principal heir -- unaware that he was a married man.Things look bad for Leonard's defense. But the final blow comes when his wife agrees to testify, not on Leonard's behalf, but as a witness for the prosecution. All that stands between him and the gallows are the courtroom skills of an aging, but brilliantly wily barrister. The play opened in Great Britain in 1953 to rave reviews and excited audiences. Four years later, it was adapted into a successful film featuring Tyrone Power, Charles Laughton, and Marlene Dietrich. Nominated for six Academy Awards, the film was a solid hit.Audiences were cautioned: “You’ll talk about it, but don’t reveal the ending!" That goes for our audiences, too!
