Arts Council of Mercer County Fifth Annual Fall Arts Festival
10:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M.
The Arts Council of Mercer County will be celebrating its Fifth Annual Fall Arts Festival on Saturday, October 12 from 10:00AM – 5:00PM and Sunday, October 13 from 10:00AM – 4:00PM on the front lawn of Old Fort Harrod State Park. Visit with over 20 arts & crafts vendors and experience a variety of live art demonstrations like rug hooking, pot throwing, stained glass preparation and more. Sit a spell and enjoy live music and entertainment from the Kentucky Hoss Cats and Driftwood Gypsy on Saturday and Adrea LaRoche and High Heels & Sneakers on Sunday. Little ones will be able to create their very own puppet in the arts & crafts area, jump in the bouncy house and participate in the other exciting activities that take place in the Art Zone. Don’t miss a live performance from the Squallis Puppeteers – a professional puppetry group from Louisville, KY presenting Rage-O-Saurus Rex, a story that is “set in the last Jurassic period, (where) a baby t-Rex and Pterodactyl struggle with friendship, hot lava and hot tempers. A talking volcano shares his wisdom with the young dinosaurs. The puppet show was designed especially for younger children, with audience participation that teaches social and emotional lessons.” Show times for the puppet show are Saturday only at 10:30AM and 2:00PM and a large special puppet will be visiting from 12:00PM – 1:00PM. A variety of festival food, family-friendly activities and one of a kind handmade arts and crafts await all who come during this two-day event celebrating the arts in our community. The ACMC Fifth Annual Fall Arts Festival is sponsored by the Harrodsburg/Mercer County Tourist Commission, James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital, Walmart, Whitaker Bank and the Kentucky Arts Council. Admission is free. For more information about the ACMC Fall Arts Festival, go to 2013 Events at www.artscouncilofmercer.com.
