ID Day

All day

Lexington, KY
During American Diabetes Month® this November, the American Diabetes Association is rallying local churches to take action as part of the Association’s Live Empowered Program focused on the African American Community. Churches throughout the community are invited to take part in ID Day on November 10th, a day set aside to focus on the seriousness of diabetes and the importance of prevention and control.
The American Diabetes Association has free materials available for churches to help raise awareness and education of diabetes. No church is too big or too small to take part in ID Day and the best part about participating in the campaign is that activities can be tailored to meet the needs of any church community.
Churches that take part in ID Day will learn important information about diabetes, its consequences, management and prevention of type 2 diabetes.
ID Day materials include ID Day fans, buttons, diabetes risk test brochures, pre diabetes brochures, Stop Diabetes disposable banners and Create your Plate brochures. Churches can contact Lisa Edwards to obtain materials and additional information about ID Day. Thanks to our local sponsors, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and McDonalds, for making ID Day possible.
Currently, close to 26 million children and adults in the United States live with diabetes, including more than 400,000 Kentuckians. An additional 79 million Americans are at high risk for type 2 diabetes. Recent estimates project that as many as one in three American adults will have diabetes in 2050 unless we take the steps to Stop Diabetes.
