May 19, 2012 1:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M.

Frankfort Convention Center
On Saturday, May 19, Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road will celebrate the 100th anniversary of providing learning and growing opportunities for girls. Join us for this historic 100th Anniversary Celebration event at the Frankfort Convention Center from 1:00 – 5:00 pm and help us celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting.

Girl Scouts vision began on March 12, 1912 by Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low. Low brought 18 girls together with the belief that every girl should be given the skills to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road continues to instill these skills in girls 100 years later and works with more than 17,000 Girl Scouts each year.

Anna Maria Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA explains, “Our 100th anniversary is our moment in time to bring the nation together to make a difference in the lives of girls. Girls represent an incredible resource for our country and Girl Scouts has always provided them a platform for success, and during our centennial we want everyone—men and women alike—to join us in making sure that every girl achieves her full leadership potential.”

The Girl Scouts of Kentucky’ Wilderness Road celebration will include a stunning 50 girl flag ceremony, 100th Anniversary Sing Along, Historical Uniform Fashion Show and a number of other activities cherishing 100 years of tradition. All participants will have the chance to have troop or group pictures taken under the 100th Anniversary Balloon Arch. The anniversary celebration also gives any troops bridging up to the next level the opportunity to have a bridging ceremony at the event.

This once in a lifetime event will give girls the chance to meet Girl Scouts from all over the state of Kentucky. All participants attending will receive a special 100th Anniversary Celebration patch. Make sure not to miss out on this historical event by registering by May 17 for $8 per person. Tickets at the door will be $10 per person.

This event is that the highlight of a spectacular year honoring the Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary. Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road serves more than 17,000 girls and 4,000 adult volunteers in 66 counties in central, eastern and northern Kentucky and one county in Ohio. The Wilderness Road Council serves girls from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and is dedicated to bringing a must have experience to every community. By creating and providing opportunities in health, education, leadership and adventure, Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world and Kentucky a better place.
