The Jessamine County Christmas Store

Nicholasville United Methodist Church
The Jessamine County Christmas Store will be helping 200 middle and high school young people this year. The Christmas Store will be a place where families can come and shop (free of charge) for gifts with dignity and love. The Christmas Store will be held at The Nicholasville United Methodist Church (located at 303 West Maple Street) on Wednesday, December 19th, Thursday, December 20th and Friday, December 21st from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. We are looking for volunteers to join with us and are accepting donations. Donations are being accepted in Jessamine County at Community Action, Central Bank (both locations), Wilmore Laundromat, Re/Max Elite, State Farm, East Middle School, and The Providence School. Our drop off location in Fayette County is at Re/Max Creative on Pasadena Drive. All donations are tax-deductible. Suggested items are lotions, soaps, socks, nerf guns, sports equipment, board games, stuffed animals, books, cds, dvds, make-up, jewelry, hoodies, etc. You can be apart of this wonderful event this year and it takes everyone’s heart, hands, and donations to make it happen.

Visit Fort Boonesborough State Park to see and hear the differences in the holiday celebrations of the season during the early settlement of Kentucky. The fort will be lighted by candlelight, with decorations in keeping with the traditions of time. There will be living history interpretations of the traditions of various ethnic groups and nationalities during the season. Candle lanterns, bonfires, the Christmas Guns (celebratory rifle salute), food and refreshments, music and dance, will all add to the atmosphere. Refreshments are included. The East Kentucky Science Center's Christmas show, "The Star of Bethlehem" will open Saturday, December 3rd at 2pm. After months of conversions, the show is now ready! "The Star of Bethlehem" is a planetarium show that focuses on finding what celestial event could have started the wise men on their journey in search of a king.
This is a planetarium show that was produced by the EKSC staff and cannot be seen anywhere except right here in our planetarium. This is a wonderful way to get you and yours into the Christmas spirit. Although many people have seen "The Star of Bethlehem" show in the past, this year it will be better than ever. With the recent installation of our new and improved high definition fulldome video system, the show will be better than ever with new scenes and improved graphics.
The Star of Bethlehem will be playing at 2:00p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 13th) through Saturday (Dec. 17th).
Also don't forget about our Christmas laser show "Laser Holidays", it will also be showing daily at 3:15pm Tuesday-Saturday.
