Halloween Hoe-Down
Oct 20, 2012 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M.
Irvine McDowell Park
The Halloween Hoe-Down is a family friendly event designed for children to have a safe place to Trick or Treat in Richmond. Back in the 1940's, a Halloween festival was held and attracted numerous community members to downtown Richmond. In 2006, the Richmond Parks & Recreation Department restructured their Boo Bash to be incorporated downtown with other outdoor festivities. In 2011 it was moved to the Irvine McDowell Park to create a festival atmosphere. The Halloween Hoe-Down continues to be a great success and a wonderful event for the whole community.
The festival will begin at 2:00pm and continue until 6:00pm. Free Activities include Kids Games, Train Rides, a Petting Zoo, Walk Around Characters, and Face painting. A Special “Thank You” goes out to the Eastern Kentucky University Recreation & Parks Administration REC 460 Class for helping to organize the games, decorations, and contests this year. They will be using this as a service learning project.
Dog Costume Contest
At 2:00pm Registration for all contests will begin. The Dog Costume Contest will have two categories- Most Original and Best 2 Part Costume. The Best Two Part Costume will be judged on the dog and the owner’s costume and how they fit together. The first place prize for each Dog Costume Contest is $75 Cash – Sponsored by Luxury Pets Services. Dog Owners can register at the tables located to the left of the Gazebo.
Registration forms will be available here soon!
The Richard McHargue Cloggers will be performing on stage before and after the Dog Costume Contest. Craft vendors, food vendors, fall market booths, and pet booths will also be on hand. Thank you to Moberly Karate For Kids for helping sponsor this event. Booths will be set up to visit throughout the park. For more information, please contact Erin Moore at 859-623-8753.

Hillbilly Days
Apr 19, 2012 - Apr 21, 2012 10:00 A.M.-11:00 P.M.
Pikeville, KY
Come enjoy the festivities and craziness of Hillbilly Days and bring the family! There is something for everyone with hundreds of food and craft booths, a huge carnival, and music throughout the town. Y'all will be assured of having three days of outrageous fun, food, and frolic.
Hillbilly Days offers loads of fun for all participants, but there is true meaning behind the event.
