A Night With Adam Crabb

Mar 18, 2012 6PM

Freedom Christian Fellowship
Few family names in Christian music evoke immediate thoughts of music like the name Crabb. There have been the Winans that certainly blessed us with amazing talent, the Goodmans with their distinct sound, or maybe the Blackwoods as the “original” quartet that toured, hugg...ed babies, and sold records from the back of a station wagon. However, you would have to look long and hard to find a family in modern history that impacted the Christian music world like the Crabb Family.

Adam is a perfectionist when it comes to his music. He possesses immense talent and passion that is uncommon, impossible to teach, and simply given to a few as a special gift straight from Heaven! To watch him play the harmonica is a pure delight. His reputation as a studio musician is impressive, but his “home” is truly the “live” performance. He electrifies a large auditorium with that unbelievable small harmonica. This is a must see!

“I have a longing to share, and sing these great songs that I grew up singing. I want to share this music with the next generation….the ten year olds, and teens that are searching for something to feed their spirit. The music always breaks down walls. That is when problems are solved and hearts are mended. We live in such an imperfect world and this message of salvation and hope is the answer”

Adam’s newly release Daywind Records’ recording, “Going Places,” showcases his talent as well as his heart for people.

Pastor Jerry Lewis invites you to come experience this young mans music, heart, and hear him minister.

J.COLE AND GYM CLASS HEREOS CONCERT at the University of Kentucky

Apr 19, 2012 8 p.m.

Memorial Coliseum at the University of Kentucky
The Student Activities Board is proud to announce J. Cole and Gym Class Heroes as the headliners for the 2012 Spring Concert 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 in Memorial Coliseum. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board.

J.Cole has been a refreshing new MC to hit the billboards in quite some time. The 2012 Grammy nominee for Best New Artist has made his presence known with chart toping hits such as ‘Work Out’, ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Mr. Nice Watch’ featuring his label executive and mentor Jay-Z. The 24-year old North Carolina-native, born Jermaine Cole, was the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation label. Cole has made a name for himself through a scholarly approach to the game – which is not surprising considering his Magna Cum Laude honor after graduating from St. John’s University.
Soulful and strong, J. Cole’s recent mix tape, The Warm Up, makes him one to watch. J. Cole even managed a coveted guest verse on JAY-Z’s Blueprint 3 with “A Star is Born”. J. Cole’s lyrics touch on everything from his upbringing in North Carolina to the poverty and hopelessness that affect his community. The Warm Up sums up not just who J. Cole is as a rapper, but who he is as an artist and a person.
Gym Class Heroes are not newcomers to the music scene. With hits such as ‘Stereo Hearts’, ‘Cupids Chokehold’ and ‘Clothes Off’ they mix elements of rap, rock, R&B, and funk into one cohesive and melodic sound. The upstate New York natives have diverse appeal whose music does not fit comfortably into one specific genre.
The band's roots date to 1997 in Geneva, New York, when MC Travis "Schleprok" McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley became friends during high-school gym class. Wanting to create a new palette for hip-hop, the duo worked with other musicians before Gym Class Heroes were officially born in 2001 with the addition of guitarist Milo Bonacci and bassist Ryan Giese. The guys self-released album For the Kids was released the same year. Since then, the band has had four chart topping records including The Quilt in 2008 which included guest appearances by Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, and Daryl Hall. Lead singer Travie McCoy released his solo album Lazarus in 2009. And in 2011 Gym Class Heroes came together in the studio with the release of Papercut Chronicles II, a sequel to their 2003 label debut.
Event tickets go on sale for solely for University of Kentucky students beginning Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Student Center Ticket Office. Students must have a valid UK ID in order to purchase a student ticket. After Wednesday, Feb, 15 tickets go on sale for the general public. Students will be still be able to purchase a general public ticket with their student ID beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15. There is a limit of four (4) general public tickets per student ID. Students may bring up to three (3) additional valid UK student IDs including their own to buy up to four (4) tickets. Tickets can be purchased from the Student Center Ticket Office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and general public tickets can be purchased at any Ticketmaster location or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
