Arbor Day at The Arboretum

The Arboretum’s Arbor Day celebration is the best attended Arbor Day event in Kentucky. We hope you will join us in continuing this tradition on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The 22nd annual Arbor Day celebration begins with a reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation by Lexington Mayor Jim Gray, followed by the planting of the Arbor Day tree, and the fun continues from there!
This year’s events will focus around the theme “Plant, Nurture, and Cherish.” Over 40 exhibitors and demonstrators will be on hand to offer expertise on planting and nurturing our trees and environment. Free tree seedlings will be available for you to take home.
Expect plenty of fun activities for children including a puppet show put on by the Lexington Public Library. The Kentucky Children’s Garden will be free and open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. so bring the whole family will
Arbor Day is the culminating event of “Party for the Planet” sponsored by KU during Earth Month. Kentucky Utilities (KU) is proud to be our presenting sponsor in addition to co-sponsors Lexmark International and Kentucky American Water. Support is also provided by the Lexington-Fayette County Environmental Commission, Big Beaver Tree Service, Keep Lexington Beautiful, and Community Tree Care.

the Living Arts & Science Center’s Family Fun Day!
It’s springtime in the Bluegrass and a great time to explore, experiment, and get creative inside and out! Join the Living Arts & Science Center’s teachers, staff and special guests for a free day of hands-on arts, science and music activities on April 27, from 10 am to 3 pm at the LASC.
The event is free and open to the public and offers many new activities as well as annual events. All activities are hands-on and will take place indoors and out!
In addition, you can visit live animals and make your own forest artwork while visiting our hands-on Discovery Exhibit: FOREST FINDINGS and our interactive art exhibit: How Small a Thing Can Be Pleasing: Contemporary Botanical Art by Kentucky Artists.
Snacks and refreshments are available for purchase
Events are free and open to the public.
The Living Arts & Science Center is a not-for-profit organization that provides creative and unique opportunities for exploration and education in the arts and sciences. Art galleries, a discovery exhibit, and arts and science classes and workshops are provided year-round for children and adults of all ages. In addition, the Living Arts and Science Center partners with community agencies and organizations to provide free hands-on arts activities at community events and programs and classes for special needs and at-risk students.
