Growing Orchids in and Around the Home

UK Extension Professor Dr. Rick Durham will share tips he has learned through his hoppy of home orchid growing. Information will include what sites in the home are best for orchids, types of containers and growing media to use, and what types of orchids are easiest for beginning enthusiasts. The talk will conclude with a tour, weather permitting, of the native orchid planting in The Arboretum's home demonstration garden. In addition, Tim Brooks, Vice-President of the American Orchid Society, will make a presentation on growing cypripedium orchids in the Blue Grass. Not all ladyslipper orchids are tropical plants. Tim will talk about cypripediums being just another perennial and how you can add these intriguing plants to your own garden. Cost: $5/ Friends $4
