Less than a month after being granted probation, a Fayette County judge has ordered a man who admitted killing his friend to return to jail.

During a case review Thursday morning, Circuit Judge Ernesto Scorsone ordered 18-year-old Jamar Mays back into custody, until another hearing on December 22.

That hearing will determine if Mays violated the terms of his probation.

Mays is now accused of not reporting to the probation office, and not paying court fines.

Before receiving five years probation on November 17, Mays spent two years in a juvenile facility for manslaughter.

He admitted shooting 17-year-old Ali Shalash at a Lexington home in 2009.

During the hearing next week, Mays' attorney will be allowed to make arguments to defend Mays against the allegations.
