A dozen Lexington residents woke up this morning to find their car windows busted out and glass shattered on the ground.
"Really surprised. I've got two kids and I thought this neighborhood was going to be really safe. For this to happen now, it's kind of sketchy," says Lexington mother of two, Molly Webster.
Lexington police say the cars parked along the street on Summerhill Drive were vandalized in the early morning hours, sometime between 1 and 5 o'clock.
"I can only think it was some kids that didn't have anything better to do," says Nell Demaree, one of victims.
Witnessing the broken car windows on a walk today,Webster feels a bit uneasy in her own neighborhood,"It does kind of make me feel like I kind of want to watch more. We have security inside the house but now it makes me almost feel like I want to put a camera out."
Demaree says this is the second time for this to happen to a car of hers parked on Summerhill Drive, "It's really upsetting. The police need to be patrolling the neighborhood somewhat and watching for the kids especially during the holidays when they're not in school."
And for those that will need to have their windows replaced like Demaree, it's frustrating knowing that those responsible will likely get away with this,"Well the insurance will be paying for it. But if I could get a hold of the kids, they'd be paying for it."
Lexington police say that it was likely someone driving by with a pellet gun because, all of the damage is done to the drivers side windows.
Police do not have any suspects at this time. Two residents in the Tanbark neighborhood also reported their windows had been shot out as well overnight.
