The weather made for a very tough time for firefighters in Harrison County on Monday.
That's where a fire destroyed a home, burning it to the ground. Thankfully nobody was hurt and firefighters dealt with slick roads just getting to the scene.
"That's right, the roads were very slick and with the wind, it made for a difficult time for us," said Wagner Perrin, Harrison County Assistant Fire Chief.
The fire was called in around lunch time and when crews arrived on scene the home on Beckett Lane was fully involved.
"Our crew did everything we could, but with the weather and size of fire, we just couldn't save the home in time," Chief Wagner said.
The couple who lived at the home had just run into town were told, to run some errands. When they returned, they found their home in ruins.
"It's sad, we know most of the people who live around here, so it really hits home for us," the Chief said.
At this time a cause of the fire has not been determined, but officials do not suspect foul play.
