Governor Beshear says he stands behind a cabinet secretary after a lawmaker called for her resignation.

Republican Senator Julie Denton of Louisville wants Secretary Janie Miller to step down from her post with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Denton says Miller's agency has misled legislators regarding child abuse records and other key issues. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Miller says Senator Denton has resorted to a personal attack.

This comes after the cabinet's handling of the beating death of 9-year-old Amy Dye, who investigators say was killed by her adoptive brother in February. Since then, Governor Beshear ordered certain records of child abuse or neglect be opened to the public.
