A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
Our weather is about to go from frosty to stormy as we head into the upcoming weekend. This takes place as the overall pattern takes on more of a blocky look as we head into early May. This may set the stage for some ugly conditions at a time of the year we don’t like seeing it here in horse country.
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop across the western half of the state later tonight. Those will increase and spread across the rest of the state on Saturday.
Locally heavy rainfall will be possible as the swatch of showers and storms moves through. Additional showers and storms will be possible on Sunday. While the weekend doesn’t look like a total washout… you should have a backup plan to any of those outdoor activities.
Temps early next week warm into the upper 70s to low 80s for a few days. That will be ahead of another strong cold front that moves in by the middle of the week. Showers and strong thunderstorms would be possible by that point.
