Road crews in Lexington expecting long night ahead

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Road crews in Lexington tell us they're expecting a long night ahead. Extra salt truck drivers will be coming in to work to help clear roads of snow.

Streets and roads officials want drivers to be extra careful will those salt trucks hitting the roads this evening.

They have big blind spots. They're difficult to stop obviously, large vehicle loaded down with tons of salt. Folks need to give them some room. Give them plenty of room to turn, not follow too closely, slow down generally for the road conditions.

They've got about twice the number of trucks ready to go Tuesday night, compared to Monday night.

Earlier Tuesday evening, a Lexington police officer said they're working dozens of crashes. If you're driving for any reason, be sure to take it easy and give yourself lots of stopping room.
