A lot of damage is left behind after an SUV hit a Lexington business this morning. It happened at Superior Van and Mobility on East New Circle road not far from the Parkette restaurant.
"I heard a crashing sound, I thought a vehicle had fallen in the back of the building. Then I went up front and saw a big hole in the wall," said Charlie Flickner of Superior Van and Mobility.
Flickner says they'd only been open for about half an hour when the accident happened. Police say a woman driving an SUV that crashed into the showroom. She has a medical boot from a previous injury and police say it got stuck and caused her to accelerate into the building. Flickner says a woman usually sits in that corner but was off today.
"Luckily the person was not there, they would have been hurt, the concrete is all over the desk," Flickner said.
The driver was only shaken up during the accident. Because of the damage to the building the fire department has asked Superior to close their showroom until the wall can be fixed.
Flickner says they will be able to continue to do business, they're just going to have to run everything out of the back of the building where they do conversions. He says they stay in contact with most of their customers so they should know where to go.
