From warm to cold, the weather can't seem to make up its mind, but one thing that it is doing is keeping local urgent care centers busy.

Now that the holidays are over, Dr. Fadi Bacha in Lexington arrives to work every day to find a full waiting room,"It's noon right now, we've seen about 10 people with an upper respiratory infection. Prior to the holidays, I was probably seeing one or two."

This is the time of year that the common cold prevails. Many are suffering from symptoms due to an upper respiratory infection, and Dr. Bacha feels that the later start could actually be a good thing, "All depending on how long the winter lasts, I hope we'll have a short winter. If that's the case, we'll probably have a milder season."

"Every time that the weather changes, my family gets sick," says Lexington resident, Lavartha Crowe.

Crowe says she tries her best to avoid getting sick, "I do have a little sore throat right now, but the best thing to do to stay away from all of the germs is to stay indoors as much as she can."

Just like the doctor recommends, Crowe is constantly washing her hands, "You want to see my hands...they're dry because they're constantly in water."

Even on the go, Crowe makes sure that she is protected by keeping hand sanitizer in the car and in her purse.

There have been few flue cases in Lexington so far and doctors remain hopeful that it will be a mild flu season as well.
