Tornado touches down in Bullitt County

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Bullitt County during storms on Wednesday.

WLKY-TV in Louisville says no injuries were reported, but some damage occurred to buildings and trees.

The weather service says on the scale used to rank tornadoes, the twister was an EF0, which is the mildest, and carried winds of about 80 mph. The tornado touched down just before 2:30 p.m. EDT about 5 miles southeast of Shepherdsville.

The weather service said the tornado was "very small" at 1 ½ miles long and 50 yards wide.

The forecast calls for cloudy conditions to continue through the weekend with a chance of rain Thursday night and Friday.
