Tornadoes confirmed in North Central Kentucky

HARRISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - The National Weather Service confirmed tornadoes caused damage this weekend in Harrison and Bourbon Counties. Meteorologists say an EF-1 tornado touched down near the Breckinridge community, North of Cynthiana. A second EF-1 tornado touched down in Ruddles Mill, in Bourbon County.

The storms hit Saturday night. The China House and Prizing House buildings in Cynthiana were damaged. Bricks on the China House building started to fall on Monday. Officials closed the nearby intersection because of the hazard.

Two homes on Dutch Chapel Road are destroyed.

"This Christmas is not good at this house but they are alive and that's the best thing of all," said John Gordon with the National Weather Service.

An EF-1 tornado also caused damage in Taylor County this weekend.
