Local college will start new program

A local college will start a new program this summer for those want to go into the nursing profession.

The program at Union College caters to a different demographic than most nursing programs at other schools.

Officials say it's important that RN's be able to advance their education here.

Not only will this program benefit the students involved, it will also help the community.

Knox County partnered with Union College for the program and giving them permission to renovate and use a local building.

The former Knox County Hospital will be completely renovated during the next two years.

Construction will not be finished until 2012.

Until then, classes are being held in the Science center on campus.

After the launch of the new program, Union College officials are hoping to expand the program with online courses.
