Prestonsburg Elementary School Parents Upset Over New Safety Policy

Some Prestonsburg Elementary School parents are upset about a new rule that goes into effect when students move to a new school next month.

Principals say parents won't be able to enter the new building and take their kids to class. They say the new rule is for safety to ensure no strangers get in the building, but some parents say it's unfair.

"We're just wanting to make sure they get to class safe instead of dropping them off and not knowing if they make it," said Christopher Blair.

"I would have thought instead of negative from the parents, we would have had positive remarks because we're just trying to keep their children safe," said Principal Gwen Hale-Frazier.

Principals say they'll have escorts for students at the front door. Students move to the new school October 8th.
