A Kentucky sailor has died in Afghanistan while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Department of Defense says Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Collin Thomas, of Morehead, died Wednesday during a combat operation in the eastern part of Afghanistan.

He was assigned to an east coast-based SEAL team.

Thomas was 33 years old.

Governor Beshear is ordering flags at all state office buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Thomas' funeral. Arrangements for that are still pending.
