Police make arrest in Tennessee chainsaw attack

Kentucky State Police have arrested a Whitley County man wanted in connection with a weekend chainsaw attack in Knox County, Tennessee.

27 year-old Brian Petrey was arrested at a home on Clifford Canada Road in Whitley County, late Sunday night without incident, and charged with 2nd degree attempted murder.

The chainsaw attack happened Saturday just after 1:00 p.m. in the 1800 block of Schriver Road.

Petrey and another man were working on a landscaping project in the Riverbend subdivision on Knoxville on Saturday when the oldest son of a homeowner noticed they were cutting down a tree on his father’s property.

The man confronted Petrey about it and they began arguing. At some point, Petrey reportedly chased the homeowner’s son with the chainsaw and managed to seriously cut the man’s finger

The victim was able to pull out his cell phone and call authorities as Petrey ran away.

Paramedics transported him to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. No word on his condition.
