Farmer's big announcement certainly has people excited in Clay County, where he grew up.
Two decades have passed since Bobby Keith coached Richie Farmer at Clay County High School.
"They come along special players like that--very seldom. So you feel honored when you get one," said Keith.
Keith believes farmer will continue to make Eastern Kentucky proud.
"Richie Farmer has always been a winner and if he is elected the people of Eastern Kentucky will be a winner," said Farmer.
Those that know Farmer say they wish him the best.
