Animal control officer, accused of shooting and killing a dog, is reprimanded

There are reports an animal control officer, who shot and killed a dog, was recently reprimanded.

We first told you last month about Bugsy.

Witnesses say Whitley County animal control officer Wayne Perkins shot the dog three times outside the Williamsburg Pharmacy.

The Corbin Times Tribune now reports the judge-executive gave Perkins a written reprimand, saying the dog 'could' have been trapped or darted instead.

Perkins says he disagrees, claiming he did what was needed to keep people safe.
