Unemployment still remains high in Kentucky ... but Middlesboro is receiving a boost.

Officials say dozens of jobs are coming to Bell County.

A new Roses store will open in the Middlesboro Mall.

The space was empty for more than two years.

Officials say this business will bring a much needed boost to the economy in the tri-states.

Crews are putting in the long hours to get business moving again in a weak economy.

"A lot of work in a short amount of time...but we think we can do it," said Charles Burchfield with the Middlesboro Mall.

While new unemployment numbers still show the area is in tough times ...officials say this is a fresh start.

"It's a positive outlook... the state might be high (unemployment rate) but in Bell County we are going the other direction... very positive thing for the citizens of Bell County," said Rob Lincks with the Bell County Chamber of Commerce.

Workers hope to open the store right before Thanksgiving... just in time for the shopping season.

The new Roses store will sell clothes, food, and several other house hold items.

Officials hope to hire even more people once the store is up and running.
