Ambulance crashes while crossing bridge in Whitley County

Police tell us there was a rescue attempt early Wednesday to try to reach people trapped in an ambulance that had been dangling over a bridge.

We're told the people inside were just rescued minutes ago and are safe.

It's happening in Woodbine.

We're told the ambulance was on the way to pick up a nine-month old to transport to the hospital when it crashed going across a bridge on Archer Street.

Officials say the infant was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and will have more information for you as soon as we can.
