Mental Health Awareness Week Declared

One in five people have mental health illnesses.

To raise awareness of those affected by mental health problems, the Mayor of Hazard declared this week...mental health awareness week for Perry County.
Some patients displayed artwork for the kick-off event Tuesday.

"We're just beginning to bring community awareness about what services that we provide," says Juanita Bartley NAMI Hazard President. "Community support groups, family support groups and coming in the spring we'll offer a 12 week family education course."

This weekend, the NAMI organization will host a mental health walk in Lexington to raise money for cures.
To volunteer locally, you can contact your NAMI office.
