A woman is awarded more than one-million dollars from a Martin County Grand Jury in a DUI case.

Officials say Andrea Perry of Inez was hit from behind in an accident in May of last year.

Doctors say the accident caused a head injury and a permanent injury to her shoulder.

Deputies with the sheriff's department testified Roger Maynard, the driver of the car that hit her, smelled of alcohol.

Police say Maynard registered .177 on a breathalyzer test and was arrested and charged with DUI, his second offense.

Maynard later pleaded guilty to the charges.
