EKU Names Permanent President

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Eastern Kentucky University has named Doug
Whitlock as its president.
The 64-year-old Whitlock has been serving as interim president
at the Richmond school since August.
He replaces Joanne Glasser, who left to become president of
Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
The university's board of regents said today that Whitlock will
serve through July 31st, 2010.
Regents say positive response from faculty and staff led them to
extend his contract. The Lexington Herald-Leader says the school's
board voted nine-to-nothing for Whitlock at a special meeting.
Whitlock had retired in 2003 after a 38-year career in several
administrative and teaching posts at EKU.
