In just over two weeks, Kentuckians head to the polls to decide who will be Kentucky's next governor.
Governor Ernie Fletcher was on the campaign trail in eastern Kentucky, and one stop was our studios for a taping of Issues and Answers.
Now in the home stretch, of a race that's received national attention, Governer Ernie Fletcher toured Eastern Kentucky Monday.
He spoke with WYMT's Neil Middleton about his thoughts on several issues...one of them being his strong opposition towards Casinos in Kentucky.
“Do we want to tell our children that gambling is good? Our grandchildren gambling is good? That is not what I want to do. That's not Kentucky values, that I think we need to promote” Governor Fletcher said.
Fletcher also spoke about alternative fuels and how they will effect the future of the commonwealth.
“Then we can take coal and produce gas that's usable; natural gas, liquid fuels, we can produce elemental sulfur, can we can even produce hydrogen in the future for the fuel cell, That I think will be the future in two decades or more. and if we can begin to build that foundation, then we can be a great provider for that,” Governor Fletcher said.
In addition to providing energy for the world...Kentucky also provides entertainment, something Fletcher says we need to take advantage of.
“Let’s play to our strengths: energy, wood products, tourism, are our strengths, and lets play to these and all of those require a good strategic plan, working with communities, and education,” Governor Fletcher said.
