An accident involving an asphalt truck leaves a bridge closed.
The accident happened on the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 in Burnside.
Police say the truck was carrying 26 tons of asphalt when the truck's leaf springs broke causing the truck to turn over and skid three hundred feet.
"Upon talking to the operator of the truck, said he heard loud noise, pieces of the spring were scattered along the bridge, bolts broke, leaf springs broken, caused him to lose control," said Officer Bruce Blevins with the Burnside Police.
Police say the driver wasn't hurt, but a passenger sustained a few cuts and bruises.
Northbound traffic was re-routed to the southbound lanes while the mess was cleaned up.
