The family of a woman who died after being bitten by a rattlesnake during a church service in London has filed suit against Marymount Medical Center.
The Herald-Leader reports the lawsuit charges that instead of providing proper care for 48-year-old Linda Long Hospital staff made derogatory comments about her religious beliefs. Long was bitten on the face by a rattlesnake during a service at East London Holiness Church a year ago.
The paper reports that Long's family says as she struggled to breathe, hospital employees continued to joke even giving her a portable fan, when she asked for oxygen.
Long was airlifted to UK hospital in Lexington where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Marymount is investigating and has not filed a formal legal response to the suit.
