Man Convicted Of Double Murder May Get New Trial

An Eastern Kentucky man convicted of a double murder in Laurel County nearly 20 years ago may get a new trial.

The Courier Journal reports attorneys for Ronnie Lee Bowling say a FBI review of convictions using a now discredited way of bullet lead matching may help their client. The paper says the FBI stopped using the method after a study determined it was unreliable.

Bowling, who is from Clay County, is awaiting execution and has already challenged his conviction in both state and federal court.
