Floyd County Native Named New Superintendent

A Floyd County native is the school system's new superintendent.

Tuesday night, the school board chose current employee Henry Webb to be the next superintendent after Doctor Paul Fanning resigned earlier this year. Webb has spent his entire career in education and the last 13 years working in Floyd County. He already has his vision for the district's future.

"We've made a lot of progress in Floyd County schools and that's my goal to continue to make progress and provide an educational opportunity for kids so they'll have an opportunity to be successful when they leave our school system," Webb said.

Webb and the school board are still working on his contract. Webb is expected to officially begin his duties in about two weeks.
