Charges Against Two Former State Police Officers Dismissed

Charges are dismissed against two former state police officers accused of assaulting a Laurel County man.

James Phillip Moore and Mark Ridener were indicted on misdemeanor charges of assault and official misconduct. The two allegedly assaulted Richard McCrystal last December.

Attorneys for the two argued they were immune from prosecution.

The Lexington Herald reports the special prosecutor in the case plans to appeal the ruling and hopes the charges will be reinstated.

Moore and Ridener are no longer state troopers.
