Man accused of killing teen pleads not guilty

A man accused of gunning down an 18-year-old man in a Woodford County parking lot was arraigned on a murder charge Wednesday morning.

Alexander Muniz's attorney pleaded not guilty on his behalf.

Police say in April, Muniz shot James Michael Crowe in the parking lot of a Versailles apartment complex.

Police say the two men knew each other, but they're still investigating what led up to the shooting.

Families of both Crowe and Muniz were in the courtroom Wednesday.

Crowe's family says they're prepared for what could be a long legal process in this case.

"We'll be here every time he's in court," Patricia Crider, Crowe's grandmother, said of Muniz. "We won't miss a date."

Muniz is scheduled to be back in court August 3 for a status hearing.

Also in court Wednesday, Muniz's attorney asked for a bond reduction. The judge said he would rule on that later.
