Former Governor Ernie Fletcher's administration installed the door early in his term. The door allowed officials to walk from the governor's office to a room used for state press conferences without accessing a public hallway.
Beshear says the door projects an image of secrecy and that's not something he wants for his own administration.
Beshear was sworn in Tuesday and spent much of Wednesday meeting with state budget officials and swearing in his cabinet members.
