An Eastern Kentucky man is recovering in the hospital after he was injured while escaping his burning Whitley County home Wednesday morning.
Fire officials say Paul Cox suffered from smoke inhalation and burns after he tried to put the fire out. His family says even though he lost everything in the fire, they still have something to be thankful for.
"I'm thankful that he's here. He's my uncle and I love him. You can't be more thankful than that, he's alive, he could be dead," said Joni Sowders.
Paul Cox's family says he had no insurance. Anyone wanting to make donations to Paul Cox can contact the Red Cross office in London at (606) 878-6333. You can also visit the Red Cross online at http://www.redcross.org.
