Cumberland Falls competing for grant in national contest

The effort is part of a campaign called "America is Your Park," which encourages people to be active.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky tourism officials are
campaigning for Cumberland Falls State Resort Park to win a
national campaign.
The Kentucky State Parks system is taking part in a campaign
called "America is Your Park" that encourages people to be
active.
Kentucky Parks Commissioner Gerry van der Meer says officials
chose Cumberland Falls to promote because it's so well known in
Kentucky and across the region.
The top vote getter will receive a $100,000 recreation grant.
Second place is worth $50,000, and the third-place finisher gets
$25,000.
Voting runs through Sept. 6. People can go to
www.LivePositively.com to vote as many times as they want.
Cumberland Falls park has a lodge, restaurant, cottages, hiking
trails, fishing, horseback riding and other activities. It also
offers great views of Cumberland Falls.
