An inmate police say escaped from the Wayne County Detention Center is now back in custody.

Police say while following up on an anonymous tip, they found 37-year-old Terry L. Stringer II Monday morning on Spring Dale Avenue in Somerset.

Police say when they spotted Stringer, he was a passenger inside a vehicle.

When police made a traffic stop on the vehicle, police say Stringer ran off. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Investigators say Stringer escaped from the Wayne County Detention Center Saturday morning.

After his arrest Monday, Stringer was charged with escape and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The driver of the vehicle Stringer was in was not charged.
