FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Local jobless rates are showing
improvement in the latest government tally.
The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training released
unemployment rates for August on Thursday showing improvements in
110 counties, though some still remain painfully high.
The report showed Woodford County with the lowest jobless rate
in the state at 7.1 percent. Fayette County followed closely with a
rate of 7.2 percent, while Larue and Oldham counties each had rates
of 7.3 percent.
Fulton County's 17.6 percent unemployment rate was the highest
in the state, followed by Jackson and Magoffin counties, both of
which had rates above 15 percent.
The unemployment rate worsened in eight counties in August and
remained the same in two.
