More than two people are being questioned by police after a possible serial bank robber struck again in southern Kentucky.
Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell says the man who robbed the Hometown Bank in Corbin Tuesday afternoon is likely the same suspect in four other area bank robberies; one in McCreary County, two in Knox County, and another in Jellico, Tennessee.
Sheriff Harrell says a man, wearing a wig and armed with a gun, jumped over the counter at one point during the robbery. After getting some money, police think the robber got away in a white car.
However, in this case investigators say the victims played a critical role in helping police. Right after the suspect had a gun pointed at her, the teller along with another bank employee, chased after the suspect and his driver. Investigators say that gave them the direction of travel, which they were able to combine with other information.
So far investigators have released few details about the investigation, but local officials tell us the FBI has become involved with this case along with state, county, and city departments.
